haven't said anything yet...

We're moving. And not a simple around the corner, down the road type move. No, we're moving 1,000 miles across country. Sarge took a full time position down in Dallas. This midwest girl is loving the idea of warm winters, but not so much the moving process.
I've already donated 3 van loads full of assorted baby clothes and accessories, and items that we've had in storage since we moved in 7 yrs ago (I really needed them, right?). But, as much as I know I need to, I couldn't part with any of my fabric stash. I think I have a serious problem.
This was taken after I had already cleared out one section. Dawned on me that maybe I needed a record of how bad it really was =)
And here it is all boxed up, ready to be put in storage until the moving truck gets here. Course, this is just the fabric. I still have my machines out and a "few" pieces of fabric and patterns for me to sew =)
Now I just have to finish going through all of the other stuff in the house and decide what needs to be tossed, donated or packed for the move. Any volunteers?

oh, hello friend package exchange

I decided to join a package exchange on the wonderfully inspiring blog oh, hello friend. It's the first one I've done, and I was so excited with how it worked out. The main theme behind this exchange was pretty packages.

I met a wonderful lady, Melissa, who is very talented and creative. I was excited to put a package together and send it off to her. I would have pictures of the purse I made for her, the book covers and the inspirational quote I sent, but alas, my camera wasn't letting me download pictures. So, I will just have to post pictures of the lovely packages I received in return.

Such beautiful and creative packages. I *almost* didn't want to open them. But I'm glad I did, because what was inside was even better.
I had been looking at the Happy Little List Takers from knitty bitties for awhile now. I was so excited to finally get one. It's a beautiful fabric covered notebook, and so much more! The pockets inside are perfect for stashing those items that get lost or crumbled up on the bottom of your purse. I absolutely love the vintage bird pattern on this one. If you don't have one of your own yet, got over to knitty bitties and order one!
The vase is perfect for all the flowers that my Girly- girl picks for me. What better way for dandelions and black- eyed Susan's to be displayed?
The pink pin is just adorable. I don't really have anything to wear it with, so I guess that means I get to go shopping?
Melissa loves quotes, so she shared some with me. All five of these postcards are inspiring and beautifully photographed. I would love to share them, but probably won't =)

And what girl doesn't love chocolate? Just need to hide it from the kids so I can enjoy it all by myself.

Five Years Already??!!??!!

How did that happen? How did Junior grow up so fast? Didn't we just bring him home?

Junior is enthralled with John Deere tractors. So, in honor of that we gave him a tractor themed party.

I made him a pair of tractor pj's. This is his first morning wearing them. He had slept out in the tent with daddy, so he put on an extra layer to stay warm =)

I had a pattern for the shirt (still need to add the snaps on the front though) and used a pair of his pants for a pattern for the pj pants. First time I "drafted" my own pattern. Worked out pretty well.

He's gotten really good at taking self- portraits...

Here's the table set- up. Like I said, he really likes his tractors.

For some reason, he thought it was important to take a picture of the cake in the fridge...

A better picture of the cake. Can someone please tell me what to do with the tub of extra buttercream frosting I have? It's a lovely shade of black...

And of course, Junior blowing out the candles on his cake. with all of his friends around him. I think we had 11 kids around the table at this point and Girly- girl and Junior- junior were sleeping.

All in all it was a good day. It's just bittersweet realizing how quickly they grow up...
