Chiffon Cascade Scarf

Here's the perfect scarf to add a bit a glam to your spring wardrode. 

This light aqua silk chiffon scarf has grape- like clusters at each end.  There are sequined flowers connected by a gold embroidered vine through out the body of the scarf.

The scarf is approximately 58"x 19"

A bit of a catch up post...

Life has been pretty crazy since we moved.  I haven't had a lot of time to get in the sewing room (now that it's unpacked!), but I have managed a couple projects in the last few weeks.

This first was to help out a friend.  She is starting to sell patterns and wanted someone to proofread/ test out the instructions to make sure they were clear enough.

The pattern is actually designed to make a dress for a toddler.  But, I liked it so much that I may just leave it as a skirt.  Not that I have anywhere that I could wear it...

My next project was a dress for Girly- girl.  And since she loves Dora...

This last project was part of Girly- girl's Christmas present.  She is definately a little princess!

It's not a very good shot of the crown, but that is what I made.  The instructions for the crown can be found here.

I have a few projects in the works right now.  Hopefully I'll be reopening my etsy shop in the next couple weeks.  Until then, happy crafting!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It's November and time to start thinking about Christmas. And while I don't put my Christmas decorations up until after Thanksgiving, I figured it was time to start listing Christmas items in my etsy store. I have three sets of Christmas themed napkins and one set of fall ones listed. I'll be adding some more listings later today (need to get batteries for my camera :))

And for those of you who want fall themed napkins, these are for you. They are a brown basket weave pattern lined with a pale yellow basket weave pattern.

I'm also taking custom order requests for the napkins and for aprons. I have a few other ideas of Christmas items floating around in my head, but I may not have time to get to them.

Flowers for Girly- Girl

I seem to have a hard time remembering to take before pictures. This was a plain women's t- shirt. I like the idea of t-shirt dresses for Girly- girl. They're easy for her to put on herself and easily washable for me.

The dress part was cut to take advantage of the hem on the shirt. It's gathered in the front and the back of the bodice. The sleeves were also cut to take advantage of the hem. They're gathered on the top of the sleeve.

The flowers are iron- on appliques that I found at a local store. I was surprised at how well they matched the dress because I didn't have this in mind when I bought them =)

Bamboo Glade

This was another custom request from Etsy. And it was also a local customer, so I was able to have her try it on =) The request was for a floor length moss green robe.

In the convo with the customer, she told me she was the pastor at a local church. I had a slight moment of panic when I questioned if she was looking for a bathrobe or a robe to preach in. Thankfully, it was for a bathrobe. Although she did tell me she has had many days where she wanted to preach in her pajama's.

The robe was made from a bamboo knit jersey. It has all the softness of knit jersey but with a bit more silkiness to it.

I really liked the style of this bathrobe. I think I may make a couple modifications- shortening it and adding a lining- and make a wrap style jacket for this fall. Maybe a nice animal print lining...

Cropped Bamboo

These were a really fast and fun project.

Bamboo is very similar to linen, but with a "silkier" feel to it.

The request was for a pair of black cropped pants with an elastic waist and side pockets. These turned out very comfortable. I think I'll have to make myself a pair, even though DH said the pant legs were "too elephant like"

Something Amazing

This was another custom order from Etsy. I really enjoyed working with this client and creating a dress for her.

She wanted a dress that matched this picture (birdcage not included):

After searching a couple stores, I finally found the fabric on one of my on- line sources. So glad I did :)

The dress is a simple wrap style top with an open back detail. The skirt is gathered just below the waistband which is accented with a blue and silver ribbon.

I love the way the dress turned out. It's very light and feminine and "floaty." My DH told me it looked like it is the type of dress that you would wear to an afternoon garden party lol!

Still trying to figure out the best way to photograph the finished projects. Most of the time the pictures I post just don't do the outfits justice. So, if anyone out there has some tips, please leave me some comments :)

Quicksilver

This was another custom request from Etsy. The buyer wanted a simple dress that had some flair... Something different than could be boughten at a store. I made a simple tunic style dress that's fitted through the bodice and then flairs slightly from the rest of the body. The rounded neckline just adds that much more interest :)

This made a fun, slinky dress. My DH saw it on the dress form and told me that I had to make one just like it for his dining out (formal military dinner) this fall.

Flutter Fly

This shirt is from a vintage pattern I came across on Craigslist. It was printed in 1973. It says it's a size 10, but fits more like a size 4/6. Just shows how much sizes have changed...

Blouse with "sweetheart" neckline and front button closing with set- in ruffled sleeves. Shaped with front and back darts and side darts at the bustline.

The ruffled sleeves is a bit of an understatement lol! I feel like I could fly away with how ruffled they are.

The fabric is 100% that I found at IKEA. Yes, IKEA. They actually have a fairly decent selection in the home decor area. And it's resonably priced.

A New Dress

I'm placing a bid to make this dress on Etsy... This is what I have on hand for fabric and design ideas.

This is the fabric. It has gold and some purple in it. The gold squares are about dime size.

Here is the design. Ignore the pink ribbon. I will "bind" the waist with a piece of elastic sewn inside a casing. The skirt will end up being fuller because I will be able to gather it better.
