Yellow and black, yellow and black...

Black and yellow!  Let's mix it up.

I made this diaper bag for a friend as a thank you gift...  And as a congratulations gift.  Sh'es expecting again, and would be in need of a new diaper bag =)

Completely lined with a laminated cotton for easy clean up.  Lots and lots of pockets to stash everything that a baby and mama needs.

I had a lot of fun making this.  Even came up with a few design improvements for the next one =)

Hoppin' Down the Bunny Trail

Girly's new Easter dress.  She was cooperative enough to model for me, but only to a certain point.  Out of a dozen pictures, these were the best lol!

I used three coordinating prints to piece the dress together.  It has a pleat in the front that I "hid" the striped fabric in and an upside- down pleat on the bodice.  Girly is completely in love with the pockets on it.

Now just hoping that the weather up north continues to be warm so that she doesn't have to wear a sweater over her dress and she can wear her new pink sandals =)

Singin' in the Rain

A completely lined kimono- style raincoat for your little princess =)

Coat is made with laminated cotton, lined with cotton and closes with velcro.

Carried Away

The quilt shop in town has been an endless source of inspiration for me. The bold, colorful prints just beg to be made into creative items. This particular piece inspired me to make it into a mei tai style baby carrier. This carrier is available for sale in my etsy shop.

The carrier is made of quilting weight cotton, which has a tighter weave as well as being a heavier weight. I've found that this cotton stands up better through multiple washings and the wear and tear that kids can put it through.

The shoulder straps are padded from just a couple inches above the top of the carrier to about mid- back.

This style of carrier has proven to be the most versitile carrier for me. Once my children have been able to hold their heads, I've carried them in the front carry.

And then, once they are old enough to not "fling" themselves backwards, I put them on my back.

Crimson Fiesta

Came across some smocked fabric on clearance and just couldn't pass it up ;) It's a red cotton gauze with yellow, green and blue threads running through the smocked part. I've been wanting to try making a shirt with this type of fabric, but couldn't justify the price, until I found this.


The top has a seam up the back. I put darts in under the arms to tailor the fit a bit. The armholes and the neckline are bound with bias tape. To add a bit of drama, I put the bias tape on the outside on the neckline and then with red thread, stitched a leaf pattern on it.

The skirt also has a seam up the back. I used a blind hem on the bottom. This is a very versatile outfit. With the two pieces together, the skirt waistband is under the waistband of the top. The top looks great with jeans. The skirt looks great with a white t- shirt and jean jacket. But I'm sure you could come up with your own variations.

The chain belt is something I've had for a few years, but don't have too many opportunities to wear. I originally bought it when I was in high school to be part of a Madrigal singer costume.

Cropped Bamboo

These were a really fast and fun project.

Bamboo is very similar to linen, but with a "silkier" feel to it.

The request was for a pair of black cropped pants with an elastic waist and side pockets. These turned out very comfortable. I think I'll have to make myself a pair, even though DH said the pant legs were "too elephant like"
