Something for me

I finally had time to finish something for me. I actually started this a couple months ago, but got side- tracked with other projects. Paying customers are a priority =)

This is a simple tank style dress with ties just under the bust line. The skirt is gathered slightly and then falls away in an A- line cut.

The fabric is something I acquired from Craigslist. I had bought a bag of vintage fabrics and patterns. They were cleaning out grandma's house and didn't know what to do with the sewing stuff they found. It is a jersey knit with clear sequins all over it, so it's "very sparkly."

I can't wait until DH and I get a date night so I can wear this lol!

Strawberry Dreams

I decided I was going to make my DD's Easter dress this year. So, we headed off to JoAnn's to look at fabric and patterns. It was a pretty easy choice for her... They had this dress modeled in front of the fabric. So she wanted "dis one!"

So, I let her pick out what fabric she wanted. "barberries and geen". And then she wanted ladybug buttons for it. I was only too happy to comply :)

Project Runway

With season 6 being postponed indefinitely, I figured I would have to inspire myself and "make it work".

This is Simplicity 2927, a Project Runway inspired pattern. I decided to make the 3/4 length sleeve tunic with pockets.

Overall I was very happy with the pattern and the instructions. The only thing I would change would be to piece the back together (with the collar pieces) and then insert the zipper. Waiting until the tunic was together made it a little trickier to get the zipper in.

I used an antique pin to pin the collar together instead of buttons. This way I can change the look of the shirt by switching out the pin :)

I'm thinking of using this pattern again... Maybe the dress this time without sleeves, or a sleeveless tunic for this summer, or maybe... I have some really cool looking cotton prints that would make really cute dresses.
